To the Person I Unfollowed on Instagram

Wednesday, January 9, 2019

I took a really LONG hiatus on the blogging front because...LIFE.  A few things that have been going on since I stepped down from my blogging soapbox:
  • Raising our miracle babe
  • Returning to work full time as Vice President of an engineering firm and a Tank Inspection company and a Property Management company
  • Buying a home, moving, and selling the old home
  • Planning my daughter's wedding
  • Selling the tank inspection company
  • Executing my daughter's wedding
  • Planning and executing my boss's retirement party
  • Moving our business after 14 years (executing on 2/1/19)
  • Holidays
  • Planning a birthday for a two year old!!
Basically I've been busy and life isn't slowing down.  Some things took second place and third and fourth too.  So to find myself back here to pen a farewell to people I click "unfollow" seems a bit bizarre to me.  But I didn't want to just unfollow without some kind of an explanation.  So here it is folks...

It's not you, it's me.

Yes, that is right, it's not you.  It's not something you did or something you said or that your feed isn't relevant or your content isn't cohesive or any other possible "what if".  It is because I didn't invest in you and now I don't really know you.  And honestly, you really don't know me either.  Seeing glimpses into my home life, my family life, it doesn't mean you know me, not in the intentional way I am setting out to know people in 2019.  I'm sorry if it seems harsh but I don’t want to follow people I don’t interact with simply because we interacted at one time.

Aside from sharing when I can, I don't really keep up with those outside my circle of friends and there is definitely concern that you’re reading this thinking we might have been closer than I thought we were.  If this person is you, I’m sorry.  Thank you for investing your time in me and I’m sorry I didn’t return that to you.

I’m not who I was. I am so thankful for that. But in changing I feel like my Instagram need to change too. So please don’t feel anything but release from following someone you potentially feel the exact same way about.

I hope this left you with clarity and the understanding that we are here because of something I did, not because of something you did.

Sending you love and light on your journey,
